MAX/MSP Private Course

Hi there, My name is Sébastien Vaillancourt, I'm a composer and performer of electronic music based in Berlin. I have a bachelor's degree in composition from the university of Montreal. I have about 5 years of experience in teaching music (piano, music theory, sound processing and programming with Max/MSP) and 3 years as a performer (piano and electronics). I just love this! I offer programming courses for musicians who have basic or no knowledge at all about MAX/MSP and digital sound processing. See link: https://cycling74.com/products/max MAX/MSP is an amazing tool for performing or even just learning about sound processing and audio effects for several reasons: 1. You can create sounds, musical structures or instruments which you can compose/perform with; 2. You can know more about digital sound processing and how a computer can interact with or produce sound in a more general way; 3. It can be a stepping stone to other programming languages (C, C++, Java etc.). What I can teach you: 1. The basic principles of the max environment and of digital sound processing; 2. Simple sound manipulation (building a synthesizer, different sampling techniques, the most common and uncommon audio effects, how to use MIDI controllers etc.); 3. More advanced things like distortion, compression, spectral processing, reverb etc.; 4. Everything that belongs to live performance (my speciality!) like how to prepare a performance, how sound works (acoustics and psycho-acoustics) etc. What you need for the course: 1. 25EUR for an hour or 40EUR for two straight hours weekly; 2. A laptop with Max 7 or newer (or Max for Live); 3. No prerequisite regarding electronic music or programming, only basic computer knowledge is needed; 4.
